This School is the 43rd in the series organized
at Culham Science
Centre, near Oxford. No
preceding knowledge of the subject is assumed. Previous Schools have attracted students
from more than 50 different countries, including
Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Ghana, Japan, Mexico, New
Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, and over 20 European countries. In
2005, for example, more than two thirds of the students were from outside the
UK. A large proportion of the international plasma physics and fusion community has
attended the course.
Lecturers are drawn from joint Euratom fusion
research laboratories across Europe, from
the European
Commission, and from leading space, astrophysical and other research groups at Institutes and
Universities in Britain and abroad. The Euratom/UKAEA
Fusion Association is funded jointly by
the UK Engineering & Physical Sciences Research
Council and by Euratom.
