THE SCHEME |
|---|---|
| In order to maintain the engineering skills base at technician level UKAEA
Culham Division runs an Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme. The scheme selects
and recruits people to undergo a four year training programme based
at the Science Centre and at a local college. The scheme follows the
standard blue print of a first year based at a local college, followed by
three years of vocational training backed up by academic work on day
release to college. The four year course is designed to help people
to develop their technical and academic abilities and personal qualities. The UKAEA will hold induction and training / familiarisation days at Culham during the first year as well as regularly visiting apprentices at college. The scheme is run by UKAEA Culham Division staff and the vocational training is provided by accredited mentors selected from a wide range of disciplines. Regular
reports will be made on each Apprentice's progress and discussed with
him/her. Open days are arranged from time to time to enable parents
to meet the training staff and see the work of the Apprentices and to
visit some of the Culham Science Centre's facilities. |
