Apprenticeship or University? Why not earn while you learn? In order to maintain the engineering skills base at engineer level UKAEA Culham Division runs several schemes including Graduate training, Monitored Professional Development and for high academic achievers selected for the apprenticeship scheme we will support degree studies during the apprenticeship or shortly after if more appropriate. You would be selected to undergo the four-year apprenticeship and whilst you would follow the standard blueprint of a first year based at a local college, undertaking practical and technical education followed by three years of vocational training your academic work on day release to college would be selected to suit your ability. You would still need to complete your technical academic work required for the award of an advanced apprenticeship during the initial 2 years in the scheme.
